Darwin and all that ...
Well, that's Darwin and Evolution finished ... the OU short science course that is. Magically the subject has come alive again and I am reading more and more in the subject area. Able to manage the classic and modern thinking on evolution (though it is not without a great effort of concentration) but though I am really interested in the molecular genetics, this arena is much advanced and deeply complex compared to the 1970s...
Margaret and I fly off tomorrow to Lima and then a week in Peru seeing the Sacred Vally of The Incas ... and I must be patient and enjoy it ... but truth be told it is the following two weeks that really excites me ... on the Galápagos Islands or Archipiélago de Colón as it appears to be more correctly termed. So I am taking Darwin's On The Origin Of Species By Means Of Natural Selection to re-read and Darwin's Journal and Remarks, 1832—1835 (from one of the volumes of Narrative of the Surveying Voyages of His Majesty's Ships Adventure and Beagle.
